Fethi Mansouri with colleagues from City of Yaara Town Council

Professor Fethi Mansouri delivered a public lecture called ‘Disrupting Racism in Contemporary Australia‘ for the City of Yarra. The lecture was part of the city’s celebration of International Human Rights Day 2019.

Professor Mansouri delivered the lecture to a large audience at the Town Hall in Melbourne on 11th December.

Human Rights Day occurs on 10 December annually around the world. It commemorates the anniversary of one of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).

The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed the Declaration in Paris on 10 December 1948. It sets out, for the first time, fundamental human rights to be universally protected.

The Declaration enshrines every person’s inalienable human rights. Human rights are inalienable, regardless of race, colour, religion, sex, language, opinions, or culture.

As a ‘common standard of achievement for all peoples and all nations’, the UDHR is a global blueprint for international, national, and local laws and policies and a bedrock of the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development.
