Portrait of Professor Sneja Gunew, painted by Elizabeth GertsakisThe Journal of International Studies has published a Festschrift for Sneja Gunew. This Special Issue of The Journal of Intercultural Studies, Volume 45, Issue 6, December 2024 is now available on Taylor & Francis Online.

As Journal Editor, Dr. Paula Muraca, writes in her introduction:

“This issue contains 13 essays and two artworks that together celebrate the enormity of Sneja Gunew’s influence on research, politics, creative communities, and on the writers themselves. These are unique and personal contributions. They relate the reach of Sneja’s ideas; contributors represent diverse research disciplines and creative pursuits. Through them, we are offered opportunities to learn more about Sneja’s analytical inclinations, how these interconnect with her biography, and were energised by her personal obsessions, and the relationships she fostered. The Festschrift is a collective work, the result of the admiration, grief, and devotion of its contributors. And their willingness to recall Sneja so carefully and responsibly during a time of grief.”

Sneja passed away in January 2024 and the Festschrift for Sneja Gunew is a fitting tribute to her significant legacy. Sneja had been a long-time collaborator with the journal of International Studies and taught at Deakin University, among other universities in Australia, England and Canada.
